Due to a lingering pain problem brought about by arthritis, a laborer decided to take his own life, Thursday evening.
Police Executive Master Sgt. Aristotle Casteres, an investigator for the Cogon Police Station, identified the suicide as Editho Basaliahis, 55, a resident of Sitio Bontong, Barangay Camaman-an, this city.
The incident happened at around 7:30 pm inside a sawmill near his residence.
A victim’s relative told police Basaliahis was suffering from arthritis for a long time and that he had difficulty walking.
“Adunay panahon gihurot niyag inum iyang tambal maayo gani wala siya naunsa. Pero gabii nakahikog gyud siya,” a relative said.
Family members did not subject the body for an autopsy after they were convinced the victim committed suicide.
