MARAWI City Mayor Majul Gandamra has announced that the 11-hectare lot where the 7,692 units of temporary shelters for evacuees will be built on is now ready.

During the briefing of Task Force Bangon Marawi late last week, Gandamra said the area is far from the war zones, where intermittent skirmishes are still raging.

The Philippine Information Agency, in a text message over the weekend, said the National Housing Authority has scheduled the start the construction of the temporary shelters of the evacuees on Sept. 8.

Based on available data, the PIA also added that the Marawi seige has already affected 78,416 families. Fifty one percent of this have sought refuge in Region 10, 45% in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, while the rest have sought refuge in Regions 6, 7, 9, 11 and Caraga.
