Sabanal, who served as a member of the city council during the Magtajas administration until 1998, went to see Neri the day he took over as Macasandig’s barangay chairman, and expressed her support to him. Neri, incidentally, is a candidate for city councilor under Rodriguez’s ticket.

The former councilor did not say anything negative about Mayor Oscar Moreno or former mayor Vicente Emano when she openly endorsed Rodriguez.

Sabanal said that at 71 years, she no longer has interest in seeking public office.

“Ang kahulogan sa politika, ‘Puli-puli Lang Ta.’ Human na man ang akong panahon sa politika, sila na pod,” she said. (nitz arancon)
