POLICE detained a young truck mechanic accused of abusing a 16-year old in his employer’s house in Sitio Malasag, Cugman, on Thursday.

The suspect was identified as 20-year-old Erick Dadang of Camiguin and a resident of El Salvador City in Misamis Oriental.

His alleged victim is from Laguindingan town, Misamis Oriental.

Dadang denied that he raped the teenager, asserting before investigators that the 16-year old consented and that, supposedly, they were sweethearts.

“Giadto ko sa balay sa akong amo sa Malasag para mag-ilis. Sa dihang naa nako sa sulod sa kwarto, misulod pud ang akong uyab. Lalaki man ko, nahitabo gyud ang di angay mahitabo,” Dadang said.

He said he then accompanied the teenager to a terminal in Lapasan and even bought some groceries for her.

Dadang said he was taken aback the following day when the teenager’s mother phoned him and started calling him names. He said he was instructed to go to the teenager’s house to explain.

Dadang said he obliged in order to show the teenager’s family that he took his relationship with the minor seriouesly.

But then the family called the police when he arrived, and he was then brought to the Cugman police station where he was detained.

Behind bars, Dadang pleaded to the teenager’s parents not to sue him, saying he was in love with the alleged victim and was willing to marry her.
