A Mental Health Forum on Anxiety, Depression and Suicide: Early Recognition and Prevention was held at the CDO Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints last Sunday, from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. The event was well attended with 461 participants, mostly young people with ages 12 to 17 years old. A good number of parents and grandparents were also in attendance. Dr. Annah Rebecca V. Doroja, a highly respected Developmental Pediatrician not only in Cagayan de Oro City but all over the Philippines was the guest speaker of the forum.

The forum was organized in response to the need for increased awareness on mental illness which has claimed the lives of many young people in recent years. Mental health experts are urging everyone, government institutions as well as the private sector, to be actively engaged in promoting mental wellness.
