MINDANAO’S vice governors will gather in the city today for the 1st Mindanao Vice Governors’ Conference at the Limketkai Luxe Hotel.

Misamis Oriental Vice Gov. Jose Mari Pelaez said the three-day activity is in collaboration with Mindanao Development Authority (Minda), and would be participated by vice governors from all over Mindanao with their respective provincial board members and board secretaries.

Pelaez is the vice presi-dent for Mindanao of the League of Vice Governors of the Philippines. The conference will tackle various issues that affect Mindanao such as the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law, the preparations of Mindanao for the K-to-12 Basic Education Program, and the different energy issues in Mindanao.

Expected speakers for Day 1 are Secretary Luwalhati Antonino and Director for Investment Promotion and Public Affairs Romeo Montenegro of Minda. They are set to talk about the Mindanao situation and the development projects and programs of the island.

Rep. Roman Romulo of Pasig City, chairman of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education is set to talk about the K-to-12 Basic Education Program of Deped.

On the 2nd Day, Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Zamboanga City 1st District Rep. Celso Lobregat will talk about perspectives for Mindanao on the proposed BBL.

Further, Rep. Edgardo Masongsong of 1-Care Partylist and Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc. president Cerael Donggay will talk about the energy issues in Mindanao.

The event aims to give first-hand information to the vice governors and their respective provincial board members of important issues that affect the islandegion and engage them into meaningful action.
