Mis. Or. Arts Council and Rotary New Year

Last June 29 and 30, 2018 at Alibuag Beach Resort in Sugbongcogon, the Tourism, Culture and Arts Council of Misamis Oriental held a strategic planning on how to further strengthen and support the local arts and culture of the province.

MisOr. Governor Yevgeny Vicente Emano is all out support in making MisOr as one of the top tourist destination in our country. He believes that tourism is the best option for the province to attain sustainable growth. During the 88th founding anniversary of Misamis Oriental and the 5th Kuyamis Festival Gov. Emano put into office Atty. Jeffrey Saclot as head of the newly created Provincial Tourism Department and MisOr Arts and Culture Council was put into action.

The meeting was aimed at strengthening the role of the council and formulating strategies and programs that the province can benefit.

The council is composed of experts in their own field, present during the planning are; Mr. Chisum Factura, owner of Kagay White Water Rafting and international consultant in outdoor adventures, Engr. Raul Ilogon, one of the pillars of mountaineering and environmental advocacy in Northern Mindanao, Architect Mai Arada and Architect Maria Linda Escaba both members of the United Architects in the Philippines (UAP), Mr. Angelito Balmes, a multi awarded visual artist and a student of the classical masters like National Artists Fernando Amorsolo and Vicente Manansala and lastly me.

The ideas brought about would be shown to the public this coming Kuyamis Festival. Also a trekking adeventure called “Nyor’s Playground” that merges eco-adventure and interaction cultural practices will soon be opened.

Respectively, the Rotary Club of West Cagayan de Oro opened the RC New Year last July 1 with an outreach program to the marginalized kids of Landfill, Zayas, Carmen this city. The club under the new leadership of Rotarian Alain Pacatan has made ways to further reach out to communities, and be an inspiration to many people to continue helping humanity stand up with dignity and compassion.

RC members prepared meals and handed out slippers to children during the said activity. Congratulations to all Rotarians all over the world and happy New Year.
