THE National Nutrition Council in Region 10 has announced its list of “Green Banner” awardees that have been adjudged for their “very satisfactory performance” in the implementation of the nutrition program in northern Mindanao.
The NNC’s Regional Green Banner 2017 awardees are Misamis Occidental for the provincial level, Cagayan de Oro for the city level, and Tudela, Misamis Occidental for the municipal level.
Recipients of the NNC’s Provincial Green Banner awards are Maramag, Bukidnon; Guinsiliban, Camiguin; and Tudela, Misamis Occidental.
The NNC in northern Mindanao headed by Gladys Mae Fernandez, NNC nutrition program coordinator for the region, also gave Nutrition Honor Awards of Merit to Kadingilan, Bukidnon; Malaybalay City in Bukidnon; Ozamiz City; Quezon, Bukidnon; and Valencia City.
NNC gives the Green Banner Award to municipalities, cities and provinces that show very satisfactory performance in implementing the nutrition program.
An area awarded with the Green Banner for three consecutive years as outstanding regional winner automatically is awarded the “Crown Award” or Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition.
The Crown Awards are for those that maintain a downward trend of malnutrition for three consecutive years. They then qualify to vie for the Nutrition Honor Award, the highest award given by NNC to outstanding achievers in nutrition program implementation for another three consecutive years.
Northern Mindanao, to date, has eight Nutrition Honor Awardees.
