MisOr-Comelec Provincial Officer Atty. Carlito Ravelo said they are awaiting guidelines set by the Comelec-Manila office to start preparing for coming elections. Unless the House of Congress passes a new law, the Barangay elections will push through in October.

Kung walay changes then we will start conducting the registration this month. Right now, we are conducting an inventory of personnel in preparation for the next activity which is the Barangay and SK elections,” he said.

He said in terms of manpower down to the municipal level, the MisOr Comelec office is already prepared.

Dili kita kalihok kung wala pa gyu’y official guidelines from Comelec-Manila. We are awaiting also directive for the start of the voter’s registration that is schedule on July 15 and it would end to July 31,” he said.

Pursuant to Section 1 of Republic Act No. 9164 as amended by Republic Act No. 9340, subsequent Synchronized Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections shall be held on the last Monday of October and every three years thereafter. Therefore, the upcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Election will be held on October 31, 2016.

According to reports, the poll body has begun the bidding process for the procurement of election materials.

Initially, the Commission has allotted 695 million pesos for the printing, supply nd delivery of election forms, envelopes and ballot boxes.

Ravelo said they are also waiting for the supplies for the registration activities.

Karon gi-usab na sab ang balaod kay pwede na maka-botar ang 15 to 30 years old for the SK. Remember unsaon kini karon pageconcile kay naa naman kita’y voters for regular election nga nag-edad og 18 pataas. There are questions raised if there will be reegistration of those voters 18 to 30 on the regular list of voters,” he said.

He said there will be system to be followed so that list of voters would not be redundant.

The coming barangay polls will be manual and the Comelec needs more teachers to serve as election inspectors and the payment for their service will be higher than the previous election since the Election Service Reform Act has been passed into law.

From the previous election which is 4,500 it will now be 6,500 during the entire conduct of the election including the counting of votes.
