Misor creates body to implement solid waste management

CAPITOL COMPOUND, Misamis Oriental — Misamis Oriental governor announced that he has created a technical working group for the implementation of the Solid Waste Management in the provincial Capitol.

Governor Yevgeny Vincente Emano said the TWG will plan and implement Republic Act 9003 otherwise known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management of 2000.

It is deemed necessary to have a plan and implement it in the Provincial Capitol to advance the advocacy on proper waste segregation and the principles of reduce, reuse and recycle, Emano said.

He also said the Department of Interior and Local Government’s Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) requires the province to implement a three-year SWM in the Provincial Capitol.

Misamis Oriental is a recipient of the SGLG in 2015 and is aiming for a back-to-back win in 2016 and 2017. The Misamis Oriental Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer will act as chairman of the TWG, co-chaired by the Provincial General Services Officer and the Human Resource and Management Officer.

The members include the Provincial Planning and Development Officer, Provincial Health Officer, Provincial Information Officer, Capitol Park Coordinator, Provincial Engineer, Provincial Tourism Officer, Provincial Jail Warden, Provincial Agriculture Officer, Provincial Directors of the Department of Agriculture and the Department of Science and Technology and the president of store concessionaires of the Capitol.
