He vowed anew to ensure the revenue collected would benefit the people as this is intended to fund government programs and services as well as maximize the potentials of the province.

Provincial Treasurer Ronald Violon, meanwhile revealed there are companies that failed to pay their taxes. He on the other hand is grateful to companies religiously paying.

For one, Violon said is the Minery Power Corporation in Balingasag town which already paid for their Real Property Taxes (RPT). In fact, the local government unit of Balingasag has remitted its share to the province in the amount of P40,249,340.96 last November 9. The P16,574,310.62 went to the general fund (GF) while the P23,677,586.60 for the Special Education Fund (SEF).

Holcim Philippines Corporation in Lugait has also provided the province its taxes a total of P24,017,746.88. This is still allocated for the general fund and special education fund of Misamis Oriental provincial government.

According to the treasurer, Minergy and Holcim are the two of the five outstanding RPT payers in the province.

Violon said that despite the outstanding RPT payable of P25,969,915.03, the Globe company, through its lawyer, assured the governor they would still pay the province in due time. Once collected, there would be P11,034,238.88 share generated for the province.

He also urged taxpayers to pay their taxes as the revenues generated would be utilized to purchase medicines, dextrose and other medical supplies needed by the provincial hospitals in the province, and provide hospitalization assistance to the increasing number of patients. (PIA)
