Misamis Oriental has 29 cases of fireworks injuries while  Bukidnon has 27 cases, according to the Department of Health (DOH 10)’s data dated Dec. 21, last year to Jan. 5, this year.

The same data shows Lanao del Norte has four cases, and Misamis Occidental has two cases.

According to the health department in the region only 26.44% were victims of fireworks injuries compared to last year’s 87 cases of fireworks injuries. DOH 10’s top five towns who had the most fireworks injury victims from Dec. 21to Jan. 5. These are the municipalities of Malaybalay 12, Cagayan de Oro City 11, Gingoog City 11, Kalilangan 7, Iligan City has three.

Next year the DOH will file criminal cases against police personnel caught not performing their task to confiscate illegal fireworks.
