The province was adjudged as the most outstanding province in 2017 and was given the Provincial Agricultural and Fishery Council Award 2017.

Laguindingan, meanwhile, received the Malinis at Masaganang Award 2017.

The awards were received by Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeney Vincente Emano and provincial agriculture chief Dr. Benjamin Resma in Malacañang on Thursday.

The awards were personally handed to Emano by President Duterte.

Resma said the award received by the capitol was “heart-warming” even as he credited it to the capitol’s distribution of over 15 thousand ducks to farmers throughout the province so they could produce “balut” (boiled egg with developing embryo).

“Ibaligya ning balot diri, di na ta kinahanglan muangkat sa Luzon,” said Resma.

He said the livelihood program, among other agriculture projects, factored in the Gawad Saka award.

Emano also received on behalf of Laguindingan town the Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan 2017 award.

Evaluators noted Laguindingan’s well-protected coral reefs, organized fisherfolk, and the absence of illegal fishing activities in its waters.

Resma said Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol has announced that Laguindingan would receive P30 million worth of projects as prize.

The capitol, meanwhile, was prized with P50 thousand and a project grant of P300 thousand, according to Resma.
