Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) has observed most of the jeepney drivers and operators did not join the call of the Solidarity of Transport Alliance in Region X’s so called “transport pahulay” Monday.

The intelligence network of Cocpo declared that there were few of drivers and operators who responded the call for a transportation strike.

Cocpo spokesperson Supt. Mardy Hortillosa said field intelligence network reported that only few of identified members of the Starex-Piston responded the call. Some them did not even join the mass protest action compared to their previous general strikes.

However, Ringo Lago, Secretary General, Starex-Piston Northern Mindanao Region said they had initially crippled the transport system to at least 60 to 70 percent early in the morning.

Lago said they did not place any choke points just to show the national level that they are supporting the Starex-Piston opposition of the present administration move for modernization.

For his part, Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board-10 Regional Director Allan Guro said they received information coming from various transport groups that they did not want to disrupt the schools are now preparing for the graduation rites in the coming weeks.

“Starex-Piston opted to do a rekorida around the city,” he added.
