THE newly appointed department heads in city hall are ready to face the new challenges they will be facing in their respective capacities, the officials said in separate interviews.

In an interview, Retired Army Col. Mario Verner Monsanto, who was named new traffic czar of the city, told Gold Star Daily that he expects the job to be daunting but he is ready to take on the challenge.

Okay ra man nang disaster management ug kanang internal security, pero kining traffic, bug-at gyud,” Monsanto said.

Monsanto is also the concurrent overseer of the disaster management and internal security of city hall.

He said there is a need to study and understand the traffic situation of the city first before the Roads and Traffic Administration can make a comprehensive traffic management plan.

Monsanto added he will also study the proper deployment of RTA personnel.

Kay basin na-ay mga personnel sa sulod sa opisina nga angayan nato i-deploy sa dalan. Aron makatabang pag-man sa traffic,” he said.

Newly appointed City Administrator Teodoro Sabuga-a said his appointment does not mean that he will be above all the other department heads in city hall.

Ayaw ninyo sabta nga labaw ako ninyo kay ako ang city administrator. Dili, walay labaw nato dinhi,” Sabuga-a said in his speech in city hall last week.

Sabuga-a said he accepted the appointment to make sure that the programs of Mayor Oscar Moreno for the city are implemented by the department heads.

Ako lang ang magsilbing orchestrator sa tanang programa ni mayor,” he said.

One of the changes Sabuga-a plans to implement is making a closed-group Facebook chat group for all the department heads of city hall.

So kadtong wala pa’y Facebook patudlo na kamo sa inyong mga anak unsa-on paghimo. Aron nga duna ‘tay magamit sa atong mga communications,” he said.

For his part, erstwhile City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office chief Edwin Dael said he welcomes his new appointment as assistant department head of city hall’s General Public Services Office.

“Promotion kining atong bag-ong katungdanan karon kay didto sa Clenro OIC ra baya ko didto,” Dael said.
