MAYOR Oscar Moreno on Monday floated the name of Rep. Rolando Uy of the city’s 1st District as his likely bet in the 2022 mayoral race.
“Mas maayo unta kon si Congressman Uy ang mosunod kanako sa pagka-mayor,” Moreno said during the launch of the Oro Kalimpiyo Awards or the Search for Outstanding Practices on Ecological Solid Waste Management organized by the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (Clenro) at Hotel Conchita.
Moreno said Uy is his preferred successor because he is convinced that the congressman would sustain city hall’s eight-point agenda which guided city hall since he assumed as the city’s leader in 2013.
He said it is important to him that the next mayor shares what his administration has envisaged so that there would be sustainability.
For his part, Uy thanked Moreno for the endorsement. He however said he and Moreno have yet to discuss their political plans for 2022.
Uy said he has yet to talk to members of his family about his plans.
“Kinahanglan man gyud nga atong konsultahon ang atong pamilya,” Uy said.
