MAYOR Oscar Moreno and his reelection challenger Rep. Rufus Rodriguez of the city’s 2nd District yesterday tried to outdo each other again even as they figured in another spat–this time, about one of the buses distributed by the Department of Health (DOH) to improve dental health services here.

As he accepted the new “Dental Health Bus” from the health department during the flagaising rites at city hall yesterday morning, Moreno accused Rodriguez of trying to stop Health Secretary Janette Garin from releasing the bus to the local government, an allegation the congressman denied.

“When Rufus found out that the vehicle would be given to city hall, he immediately called Secretary Garin and asked her to hold it. It was as if he owned the bus,” Moreno said.

Rodriguez called Moreno’s accusation a lie.

“Wala kita magbabag,” he said.

Rodriguez said what he did was merely to write the DOH in order to ask when the bus for the city’s 2nd District would be given.

“Duha ka bus ang alang sa Cagayan de Oro gikan sa DOH–usa alang sa city hall ug usa alang sa 2nd District,” said Rodriguez. (nitz arancon)
