HIS defeat will be the loss of all Cagayanons who will not vote for him. This was how independent mayoral candidate Benjamin Contreras put it as he reacted to Xavier University-Kinaadman’s survey that showed him at the tail end of the mayoral race.

Contreras said he has no problems with losing the race. “Ang akong kapildehan, dili man nako kawad-on. Ingon ana ra ka simple. My loss is the loss of the people nga wala moto-o kanako. Unya for the next three years, magbalik balik ra gihapon nang ilang mga reklamo.”

The candidate has been a vocal critic of the Moreno administration. Before that, he was also a staunch critic of the administration of Moreno’s predecessor, ex-mayor Vicente Emano.

But Contreras downplayed the results of the Xavier-commissioned survey, adding that he didn’t mind losing in that survey.

“Survey ra man nang na-a pasagdi lang na siya. Expected na man nang moda-og si Moreno, labi na kon ang mag-survey ang Xavier. Okay ra na, wala nay problima nako,” he said.

The survey results showed Contreras at No. 4 with 0.3 percent, behind Felix Borres, another independent mayoral candidate, who had a voter preference of 0.6 percent. Borres conceded Friday, following the release of the survey results.
