Camp Alagar Spokesman Supt. Lemuel Gonda identified the drug suspects as Janus Mark Leyson, 34, a liaison officer at the City Mayor’s Office, a resident of Barangay 15 and Rico Go Gallardo, Jr., 33, a resident of Villa Angela Subdivision in Barangay Balulang.

Gallardo was a former police officer assigned at the Cagayan de Oro Police Office (Cocpo) with a rank of  Police Officer 1.

Gonda said the suspects were caught using shabu inside a drug den in Barangay 15 along Burgos-Macaham-bus Sts., at about 8:40 pm, Thursday, in a joint anti-drug operation of RDEU and Divisoria Police Station.

Seized from the suspects, Gonda added, were 0.05 grams of suspected shabu and assorted drug paraphernalia.

The two are currently detained at the Maharlika Detention Cell while cases are being filed against them.

Gallardo declined an interview with this paper.

For his part, Leyson said he had nothing to do with the drug session he was caught red-handed in.

Wala gyod koy labot ana, gihapitan lang ko nila,” Leyson said from inside the detention cell.

According to Chief Insp. Julius Macariola, Divisoria Police Station commander, Gallardo was first dismissed from police service after testing positive to a drug test.

Meanwhile, City Administrator Teodoro Sabuga-a said Leyson will most likely face administrative charges as well and will not be able to collect his salary as a job order employee of the City Mayor’s Office.

Una, ato kining ieport sa Human Resource Management Office para ma-stop iyang sweldo. Second, atong hulatan ang kaso ug unsay recommendation sa korte. Third, ato kining i-forward sa City Legal Office,  for administrative case. Fourth, if the court orders for rehab, then we refer this to Oro wellness development Center for rehabilitation,” Sabuga-a said.
