As of this writing, it was not yet clear what caused Cabornay’s death as the NBI-10 and the deceased’s family are still waiting for the postmortem result, he said.

“His death was a big loss to the NBI-10,” Bernales said.

A few months prior to his death, Cabornay was one of the NBI-10 agents who assisted hundreds of individuals who were victimized in the online financial scam in the city.

Based on his social media profile, Cabornay, from Iligan City, was a graduate of Bachelor of Arts major in Political Science at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) in 1986.

He received a law degree at the IIT School of Law in 1991.

Cabornay started working at the NBI in 1994. (Jigger Jerusalem)
