In a turn over ceremony yesterday morning at the DOT Caraga regional office grounds here in Butuan City, Jumawan turned over the key of the Department of Transportation regional office to Abbas.

In his speech, Jumawan urged colleagues to support the new DOT Secretary Arthur “Art” Tugade.

Abbas who was DOTC-Caraga assistant regional director prior to his appointment as OIC regional director, was a personal choice of Tugade to lead the department’s Caraga regional office.

“I support and agree with President Duterte’s instruction to all government offices against long lines of people making transactions in government offices. We must not make public sacrifice because of our inefficiencies,” Abbas said.

Abbas also urged colleagues at DOTC reginal office and its field offices to avoid corruption and must issue official receipts in all payments made by the public particularly in franchising and stop corruption in renewal and getting new driver’s license.

“That’s the reason why I am subjecting one or two personnel into lifestyle check due allegations of corruption in franchising transport or public utility vans due allegedly collecting franchise payments without official receipt issued,” Abbas added.

He said the office will no longer tolerate fixers in the regional office and will be “making rounds regularly.”

Pasensyahan tayo,” said Abbas.
