THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 3 is waiting for a court order so that it could move Mayor Oscar Moreno’s son Sean and seven other drug suspects to a prison facility.

Glenn Guillermo, PDEA spokesman for Region 3, said Sean Moreno, 43, the eldest son of Cagayan de Oro’s mayor, and his companions would be brought to the Angeles City Jail as soon as a court issues a commitment order.

“We are just waiting for the commitment order. They are still in the custody of the PDEA,” Guillermo said, referring to the suspects who are being held at the Agency’s regional office in San Fernando, Pampanga.

Guillermo said the city prosecutor’s office released a resolution Tuesday that approved the filing of the case against the younger Moreno and the group in the court.

The mayor’s son and the other respondents were charged with violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 for allegedly selling illegal substances.

Guillermo said Sean revealed his relationship with Mayor Moreno only after he was asked by PDEA investigators about it.

“He confirmed that he is a son of (Mayor Moreno). He felt ashamed. (He is aware) of the embarrassment he has brought to his family,” Guillermo said.

Sean was arrested during a buy-and-bust operation carried out by PDEA agents inside a hotel in Angeles on June 27.

Confiscated during the operation were 310 tablets of Ecstasy, five capsules of Dimethyl Tripticase, a plastic bottle containing 100 tablets of Valium, three sachets of suspected kush, a sachet with some 0.75 grams of suspected cocaine, and a weighing scale.

Authorities estimated the street value of the seized drugs at P1 million.

Arrested with the younger Moreno were Bernice Fabiosa, 21; Ma. Isabel Lawas, 19; Aileen Baldon, 23; Jaime Mendoza, 20; Jessa Scott, 19; Bernadeth Saavedra, 19; and Gregorio Imperial, 26. All are residents of Angeles.
