Police authorities arrested a notorious alleged motorcycle thief and the recovery of at least two motorcycles in their hideout during a mobile check point installed along Cugman national highway Friday afternoon.

Chief Insp. Ivan Viñas, Cugman police station chief identified the suspect as Leo Castil, 23 years old and a resident of Sitio Acasia, Barangay Carmen, this city.

Viñas said Castil was listed as one of the police character responsible on the series of stealing motorcycles within their area of responsibility and was arrested during a checkpoint.

Recovered from his possession were tools Castil used in stealing motorcycles, a hunting knife, sachets of suspected shabu, and drug paraphernalia.

During initial investigation, he revealed the area where they stock stolen motorcycles and other motorcycle spare parts that they sold in public. Police managed to recover stolen items inside Ecoville Subdivision in barangay Lumbia.

Viñas said they considered the group of Castil as an organized group considering that after they stole a motorcycle, they deliver the goods to their hideout and dismantle the item while other members of the group were responsible in selling stolen items.

The latest unit that the police has recovered was a combination of red and white XRM-Honda motorcycle bearing plate number KJKJ-6003 and other one is colored black Skygo with defaced serial and engine number.

Viñas among other members of the group were coming from Iligan City and Bukidnon province.
