MAYOR Oscar Moreno yesterday entered a not guilty plea before Sandiganbayan on 13 graft cases filed against him in connection with the capitol’s heavy equipment deals when he was Misamis Oriental governor.

Moreno’s lawyer Bryan Dale Mordeno confirmed that the mayor faced the anti-graft court for the arraignment.

“Continuation ra nga arraignment atong mga capitol cases kay wala man gud nadunggan,” said Mordeno.

He said there was one case arraignment in October and six others in November or a total of 20 cases.

“The rest of the capitol cases were dismissed,” said Mordeno.

The anti-graft court’s second division, composed of Justices Loreifel Pahinma who is the acting chair, Bayani Jacinto and Kevin Narce Vivero as members, will hold the public hearings.

The cases involve allegations that Moreno and his co-accused had entered into what their complainants described as “grossly disadvantageous transactions” with a private firm, resulting in multimillion peso losses on the part the provincial government.

The complainants alleged that the transactions were not given the approval of the provincial board.
