Iligan City — The new opposition councilors who won the midterm polls paid a courtesy call to the city vice mayor ahead of their inaugural session on Tuesday next week.

Yesterday, vice mayor Jemar Vera Cruz said opposition councilors came to him early this week.

To note, new members of the now 17th council who ran under the opposing “blue” team headed by Rep. Frederick Siao are: Atty. Providencio Abragan, Jr., Queenie Belmonte, Michelle Sweet and Simplicio Larrazabal III. Vera Cruz said they all met with him except for Abragan who had to attend to another important matter during said occasion.

To note, Belmonte is slated to serve her second term. The three are combacking city council members after resting for three years as they had lost their respective bids in the 2016 elections.

The four took their respective oaths on June 28 before Executive Judge Anisah Amanodin Umpa of the Regional Trial Court of Lanao Norte. The same judge also administered the oaths of office of elected officials to their posts on June 30 under the ticket of incumbent Mayor Celso Regencia, Vera  Cruz, Councilors Ryan Ong, Ian Uy, Demosthenes Plando, Tata Tamula, Mackie Macapagal, Sorilie Bacsarpa, Jake Balanay, and Noli Pardillo.
