Maj. Evan Viñas, the city police spokesman, said all leaves of absence have been revoked and no officer is allowed to take leave till Nov. 4.

Viñas said the city police would be augmented by soldiers from the Army’s 4th Infantry Division, and there would be additional officers from the Regional Mobile Force from Camp Alagar who would be fielded here.

Dampal also ordered the deployment of officers to all of the city’s private and public cemeteries, malls, churches, and other densely populated areas.

He said the city police would also deploy all of their K9 units, the Special Weapons and Tactics teams, plainclothes police officers, as well as intelligence operatives.

Viñas enumerated the items that are prohibited in all cemeteries: bladed weapons, lighters, matches, and sound systems.

“Imbargohon gyud namo kon na-ay among  makit-an nga nag dala sa maong mga butang sulod sa mga sementeryo,” said Viñas.

For his part, City Local Environment and Resources Office chief Armen Cuenca said people are prohibited from the traditional lighting of dried leaves in the cemeteries as this is in violation of the Clean Air Act.

“Wala na namo itugot kanang mga palina sa mga sementeryo kay aso man gud kana. Maka-violate kana sa Clean Air Act,” Cuenca said.
