“THIS is now the right time to tap the agricultural aspect to the city’s tourism industry because it has a number of agricultural resources.”

Thus said Councilor Jay R. Pascual, chair of the City Council committee on tourism during the program “Si Bise Mayor Kikang Uy ug Ang Konseho” aired last week.

The councilor cited Sinulom Falls as an example of a possible agri-tourism site because of the presence of various plantations like cacao, dragon fruit, banana, calamansi and palm oil.

There are also fruit trees such as mangosteen, lanzones and rambutan and an aviary for honey-producing bees  in the area, he cited.

“Ang atong tourism areas makapadani man gud na sila og mga turista sa atong dakbayan. Dako kaayo og ikatabang ang tourism industry kay maka generate man na sya og dugang income para sa atong dakbayan,” the councilor stressed.

The councilor said he is willing to take on the chairmanship of the committee on agriculture to pursue this.

“I am a graduate of agriculture so I want that committee aside from tourism,” he added.

Supporting Mayor Oscar Moreno’s intention to fulfill and complete his programs and projects during his last term, Pascual said there is more pressure on councilors and on different department heads of the city government. (SP)
