THROUGH an ordinance, the City Council has authorized City Mayor Oscar Moreno to enter into and sign the Memorandum of Agreement with the House of Hope Foundation.

This covers the city’s grant of financial assistance to the House of Hope for this year in the amount of P3 million, and the collaboration of the parties to provide the needed services to help address the mental health needs in the city.

It may be recalled that the city allocated P1 million as financial assistance to the House of Hope last year.

In his letter to the City Council, Mayor Moreno said the agreement covers the financial assistance of the city to the House of Hope for 2019, as provided in the city’s annual budget.

The increased amount of assistance is a manifestation of the city’s commitment in addressing the mental health problem in the local government unit, said Mayor Moreno.

The House of Hope is presently attending to their needs but the aim of completely caring, rehabilitating and uplifting for them is hampered by lack of facilities, and the absence of sustained and effective support from the community, The Power learned.

Under the agreement, the House of Hope shall run and manage the day to day affairs of the foundation; make periodic reports of its accomplishments, present activities, and future plans for consideration and possible assistance by the city; and give feedback on the assistance provided by the city.
