Xavier Ateneo’s Economics faculty member Dr Catherine Roween Almaden won the Best Paper Presentation Prize in the recently-concluded 4th Asia Future Conference (AFC) in Seoul, South Korea.

Almaden presented her paper on the “Multi-dimensional Indicators of Adaptive Capacity of Rice Farming Households to Address Saltwater Intrusion in the Philippines and Vietnam.”

At the end of the said confab, she received the Best Paper Presentation Prize from former United Nations Undersecretary-General Dr Akashi Yasushi, who is currently the AFC chairperson.

Almaden is an assistant professor in XU Department of Economics. Her fields of interest include environmental economics, development economics, and macroeconomics.

The Asia Future Conference aims to provide “a platform for those who have studied in Japan and those who are interested to meet and discuss the future of Asia.”

This year’s event, hosted by Atsumi International Foundation – Sekiguchi Global Research Association, centered on the theme “Peace, Prosperity, and Dynamic Future.” (PR)
