CAGAYAN  de Oro City Police Office Director Senior Supt. Nelson Aganon has submitted a position paper to Camp Crame requesting the police top brass to delete the city in the list of election “hotspots” in upcoming midterm elections.

Aganon said he coursed his request through police regional director Chief Supt. Timoteo Pacleb who in turn would submit it to Camp Crame for review and decision.

Aganon said the city should not be included in the list of election hotspots.

Aganon argued that election hotspots should be areas that have the presence of private armed groups, narco-politicians, and terrorist groups.

“Lahat sa mga parameters na yan ay wala sa Cagayan de Oro. Wala naman tayong  private armed groups. Wala tayong narco (politicians). Mas lalo na, na wala tayong presence ng NPA,” Aganon said.

The city police director said he is hopeful that the Directorate for Intelligence of Camp Crame would respond positively to his position paper.

Aganon also hopes that the city would be delisted as an election hot spot before the midterm elections. (Nitz Arancon)
