OSHDP assured the typhoon victims not to lose hope.

This after Christopher Tan the Chairman of the Board of OSHDP during the 7th National Developers Convention’s press briefing at N Hotel, here assured Typhon Sendong victims of this city will still receive houses.

The issue is not money Tan strongly believes the victims can pay for the Socialized Housing Projects worth P450,000.

“If our buyers, particularly the beneficiaries of Sendong victims would not be able to afford, we will still build housing, at ang bayad po diyan through financial Institutions na like Pag-ibig,” Tan said.

Tan also told reporters that OSHDP is ready to assist Mayor Oscar Moreno’s  plans of putting up Socialized Housing Projects, not only for the Sendong victims but also in order to solve the informal settlers issue that this city has been dealing with for a long time.

He added that the City Hall has already announced that they will need no less than 80 thousand housing projects to solve the said issue.

But, Tan pointed out that the only hindrance to the housing projects are the requirements itself.

According to him other housing developers are disappointed with the number of government permit they need to comply for housing projects in this city, saying that complying and processing of more than 68 permits are costly and takes almost two years to even complete.

Tan stresses that this is the main reason why housing projects for the Sendong victims were so delayed.

Adding that due to the cost of complying and processing the permits OSHDP cannot lower the price (P450,000) of their housing units.

In line with this Tan urged the local government to make complying and processing of permits simple and less complicated for housing projects.

“We welcome the simplification of Housing permits, kung meron mang 68 permits, kung pwedi lang gawin na nating tatlo,” Tan said.
