OVER 11 thousand Cagayan de Oro voters would not be able to vote next year over their failure to have their biometrics data validated. Commission on Elections ( Comelec) records show that 11,436 city voters failed to beat the Saturday deadline set by the poll body. Lawyer Palmer Palamine, elections officer for the city, said those who failed to beat the deadline would be “deactivated,” and would not be able to vote next year. There would no longer be an extension, he said.

Palamine said they could exercise their right tp vote in the 2019 elections provided they registered again. The Comelec now counts some 307,446 registered voters in the city or an increase of some 20,421 from 287,025 voters in 2010.
