BUTUAN City — Joint operatives of the police and military under the Army’s 26th Infantry Battalion confiscated a total of P4.67 million worth of suspected shabu on Oct. 5 morning at about 7:20 am in Barangay Consuelo, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur.

The haul of illegal drugs was the biggest so far in government’s intensified anti-illegal drugs campaign in Caraga Region.

Joint military and police reports read that on the power of eight search warrants issued by 1st Municipal Circuit Trial Court in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur, Judge Dymphna C. Gozon-Labindao, the joint anti-illegal drugs operations arrested two suspected shabu pushers. The authorities identified the drug suspects as Saada Cabugatan Macasalong, 23, and a minor [name withheld].

The two are now facing cases in violations of the Republic Act 9165 also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Major Gen. Benjamin Madrigal Jr., Commander of 4th Infantry Division  lauded the efficient implementation of the operation.

“Our increased coordination with the PNP resulted to the success of the operation. I commend all the people involved in planning and execution that led to the successful arrest of these two suspects and recovery of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia. You have exhibited the highest form of professionalism especially on the proper implementation and execution of the search and arrest procedure,” Madrigal said.
