FORMER mayor Vicente Emano yesterday said the Padayon Pilipino has yet to decide on its candidate for presidency of the Liga ng mga Barangay here next month.

Emano’s pronouncement came on the heels of the announcement of Councilor Yan Lam Lim, Barangay 40 chairman, of his decision to leave the Padayon Pilipino and join Mayor Oscar Moreno’s party, the PDP-Laban.

Lim has been serving as president of the Liga ng mga Barangay since 2013 under the Padayon Pilipino.

Emano’s statement contradicted former councilor Alexander Dacer’s earlier claim that the Padayon Pilipino decided to field  Barangay 17 chairman Jericho Goldmar Ebabacol, a former councilor, as candidate for the Liga presidency.

Councilor Leon Gan, a Padayon Pilipino official, said they were surprised with Lim’s defection to Moreno’s party late last week but said it was the councilor’s right.

“Siyempre, apektado ’ta kay ato gud siya nga kauban,” Gan said.

Gan said Lim’s decision would impact on Padayon Pilipino’s influence in the Liga ng mga Barangay and affect their numbers.

Gan denied that Lim’s defection was a result of Padayon Pilipino’s supposed decision to support another candidate for the Liga presidency.

“Dili na tinuod. Wala pa’y nahukman sa partido kinsa’y kandidato sa ABC president,” said Gan.
