Provincial board member Heckert Emano confirmed that the late town mayor Paulino Emano would remain as the party’s candidate for vice  mayor as a way of honoring and paying tribute to the deceased politician.

Before his death, the then Mauor Emano filed his certificate of candidacy for vice mayor in the town.

“Wala na mi nangita og ipuli niya kay gusto namu nga mahatagan ug tribute ang iyang legacy isip mayor sa Tagoloan bisag patay na siya,” said the provincial board member.

Lawyer Gina Luna Zayas Sabio, Comelec’s legal counsel for Region 10, said the late mayor’s name would be in the ballots.

Sabio said that all the votes cast in favor of the deceased mayor, even if the dead politician wins, would be considered stray votes.

“Mao gyud na ang mahitabo kay sayo man gi-print ang ballots,” said Sabio.

Misamis Oriental Gov. Yevgeny Vincente Emano the Padayon Pilipino opted not to replace his late uncle because the party is now supporting Robinson Sabio’s vice mayoral bid.
