MISAMIS Oriental Vice Governor Jose Mari Pelaez has pointed to the supposed wanting performance of the representative of the province’s first district as the primary reason for running for the seat next year.

“The first district is underserved and needs a lot of development efforts,” Pelaez said.

He claimed the performance of third and last termer incumbent Rep. Pedro Unabia has been lackluster at best and have not given the constituents of the province’s first district the proper attention.

“We need to catch up with the second district of the province by influencing policies and decisions, and by bringing national government projects to the first district,” said Pelaez.

He added that he is confident he could usher in more development in the first district if he wins as its representative at the Lower House of Congress.

“I feel I can be effective as a congressman in espousing my advocacies in education, energy, agriculture, health, and entrepreneurship among others,” Pelaez said.
