MISAMIS Oriental Vice Gov. Jose Ma. Pelaez yesterday frowned over Miss New Zealand-Pancontinental Nicole Harding’s claims about Cagayan de Oro but said he did not want to dignify the Kiwi’s pronouncements.

Pelaez opined that Harding lied that she hurriedly left due to security concerns, and because she and the other contestants were provided shabby accommodations during their first night of stay in the city.

“Who is in his or her right mind would say that about Cagayan de Oro?” he asked.

Pelaez said, “I would like to believe that she is making it up… “We all know what she is saying is far from the truth.”

He said the other candidates should speak up, and say how they were being treated in the city.

Harding’s roommate at Budgetel on Saturday, Ashley Clark of the US, quit and left, too, on Sunday afternoon while two others–Derya Emre of Belgium, and Tiffany Boone of Benelux (Belgium-Netherlands-Luxembourg)–quit and silently left on Tuesday.

Pelaez said the provincial board would likely not tackle Harding’s complaint because he and the provincial legislator did not want to dignify the matter.
