The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountant (Picpa) Cagayan de Oro Chapter Official said it in a press conference yesterday.

This is in connection to the Accountancy week celebration which was celebrated by CPA’s and accountancy students in the entire country.

Lino Buray, Vice President for the Professional Development of Picpa, said that truly, CPA’s in the Philippines is an endangered species.

After graduating here, and passing the board exams, CPA’s will fly abroad for they will be compensated times three than what they will get here in the Philippines.

In fact, according to Buray, in Dubai, CPA’s there are like one barangay. This is how huge the number of CPA’s in Dubai alone, explained Buray. Even they were also asked to work abroad, but refused.

Adding that, CPA’s here in the Philippines are highly competitive for they are using the International Accounting Standards, which made it easy for this profession to be hired abroad.

Buray, considered the CPA’s as the blood life of the nation, for they were the ones who manage our taxes, which is the main source of the money in the country, however, he also admits that getting into this course is not easy for ‘aside from the course being expensive, it is also hard to pass” , Buray reiterated.

“Even in an establishment, if you don’t have a CPA or a book keeper, it’s hard,” Buray said.

For this, the President of Picpa, Lindy Patriana, said to her fellow colleagues to come back here in the Philippines, because business here is now good.

Both Buray and Patriana advises students who are now taking accountancy courses  to study hard and work for it , for great opportunities awaits ahead of them after passing the board exam.
