POLICE yesterday pressed charges against a businessman following his arrest for illegal possession of ammunition.

The complaint was filed before the City Prosecutor’s Office against 31-year old Jay Tan of V. Castro Street in Carmen.

Chief Insp. Ariel Philip Pontillas said Tan was arrested during a raid carried out by the City  Intelligence Unit of the Cagayan de Oro City  Police Office in Carmen at around 7 pm Thursday based on a search warrant issued by Judge Dennis Alcantar of the 18th branch of the Regional Trial Court here.

Members of the the Carmen and Bulua police stations, Swat and other units took part in the raid.

Pontillas said the raid resulted in the seizure of ammunition for M-16  and Caliber 30 rifles and other high-powered firearms.

Tan was brought to Cocpo’s New Maharlika  Building in Barangay 40 where he was placed under detention. (nitz arancon)
