Police identified the suspects as Harold Rafar, 24, of Sapong, Lagonglong in Misamis Oriental, and 18-year-old Romnick Samonte of Purok 3, Gusa.

Capt. Evary Bacunawa, Opol police chief, said Rafar of God is Good Security Agency was arrested while he was watching over a private property in Barra, Opol at around 8 pm on Wednesday.

Rafal denied that he raped the 13-year-old girl from Marawi but told the police that they were just friends. He said the girl went to see him at his outpost.

“Giadto man to siya sa ako ug nangayog tabang kay di na siya gusto mopauli sa ila kay patyon daw siya. Mao to akong gitabangan,” Rafal said.

The girl, an out-of-school youth, had been reported missing for at least six days by her mother.

Rafar said he met the girl near a beach house near the place were he worked as a guard and they became friends.

Police said it was one of the friends of the girl who provided the police information about her whereabouts.

Rafal is temporarily detained at Opol police where he is awaiting formal charges.

The 18-year-old Samonte, meanwhile, was arrested at his home in Purok 3, Gusa, based on an arrest warrant for five counts of rape by sexual assault.

Capt. Mario Mantala, chief of the Crime Against Persons and Property Desk of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office, said Judge Richard Mordeno of the Regional Trial Court set the bailbond at P1 million.

Samonte has been detained at the Maharlika police headquarters.
