POLICE arrested a suspect in at least two of the four LBC Express Inc. robberies here and in Misamis Oriental since September, and pressed charges against him and another one yesterday.
Police filed two counts robbery and illegal possession of explosive cases against 37-year-old Rosevelt Bedro and Archonilo Palubon a.k.a. Bingkot of Ozamiz City.
City police director Senior Supt. Nelson Aganon said Palubon was arrested in his hideout at Sitio Buarra, Barangay Bayabas, on Monday.
Bedro, according to Aganon, managed to escape.
Aganon said the suspects were identified by an LBC branch supervisor as the men who staged the Oct. 6 robbery in Tagoloan town.
He said the suspects belong to a robbery gang that broke away from another crime gang in Ozamiz City.
He said the two suspects were identified to be behind the LBC-Velez robbery on Sunday, and another one in Tagoloan town in Misamis Oriental earlier.
Aganon said Palubon fought back and lobbed a grenade at the police. “Maayo gani kay wala moboto kay wala man makuha ang pin kay nataranta na tingali to siya sa dihang mi-abot na sa ilang hideout ang atong mga operatives.”
Police seized the unexploded grenade.
At the alleged hideout, police found only P4 thousand in cash, an XRM motorcycle that was allegedly used as getaway vehicle, and LBC deposit slips.
Aganon said both suspects were “drug personalities” who even “surrendered” at the height of the “Oplan Tokhang” campaign of the government.
