Aside from illegal possession of illegal drugs, authorities said they would also file a complaint for illegal possession of explosive and ammunition against 56-year old Marvin Tagalogon of Barangay Cabantian, Manticao, Misamis Oriental.

The complaints would be filed with the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office today, officials said.

Police said Tagalogon is the 5th barangay official in the province to be arrested this year in connection with the anti-drug campaign of the government.

Police alleged that Tagalogon yielded four sachets of suspected shabu, a fragmentation grenade, and four shotgun bullets when authorities raided his house based on a court warrant at around 5:30 am Saturday.

Senior Insp. Marlo Lanioso, chief of the Manticao police, said the seized items were found in Tagalogon’s room.

Lanioso said Tagalogon has been in the government’s list of “high value” targets in Misamis Oriental.

Tagalogon, who was placed under detention at the Manticao police station, will step down as barangay chairman by the end of this month. He however won as barangay councilor in last month’s elections.

Senior Supt. Rolando Destura, police director for Misamis Oriental,  said the suspect’s arrest showed the commitment of officers in the province to the government’s “war on drugs.”

He said the raid was carried out by members of the provincial  police’s intelligence branch, drug enforcement unit, and the Manticao town police.
