Gingoog City — The city police force has recaptured an escapee at his residence in Sitio Mangilit in Barangay Balason this city last Tuesday.

Senior Supt. Roel Lamiing, Gingoog Chief of Police, identified the escapee as 18-year old Janny Quiraban.

Quiraban escaped sometime in June, this year from the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY-10) located at remote area of Kahulugan Barangay 26 here, Lamiing said

Lamiing added that Quiraban committed another crime while on the lam. Quiraban allegedly raped a 17-year old girl in Barangay 26 at about 1:00 pm, on the day he was captured.

Quiraban along with his older brother Ferlan were charged of rape with homicide in relation to Republic Act 7610  a  year ago by raping and brutaly killing a 10-year old grade 4 student of Balason Elementary School.

Based on records of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Gingoog City Jail, the two brothers were committed on Oct. 26, last year.

The young Quiraban, who was 17 at that time, confessed to the charges.

After confession, the Branch 43 of Regional Trial Court convicted Quiraban to imprisonment of 10 years and four months imprisonment on Feb. 13.

The BJMP Gingoog records also show that on Feb. 22 the court ordered the suspension of Quiraban’s sentence and was transfered to RRCY-10.
