Consumers of electricity in the 2nd District of Misamis Oriental may see their monthly bills rise being the “most immediate” impact of the new tax regime on the power industry, according to Misamis Oriental II Rural Electric Service Cooperative (MORESCO II) General Manager Ronnel Cañada.

Canada even said the enacted Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) law, already reimposed the value-added tax on wheeling charges.

“Ug ang maong pag saka sa generation charges naka apekto gyud sab sa pag taas sa atong power bill,” Cañada said.

Cañada said that the increase had already imposed power bill increases because of the generation charges up due to the effect of Train Law.

Cañada confirmed the said increase in power bill rates during the synchronized 39th Annual General Membership Assembly AGMA held at Arturo Lugod Gym here in Medina, Misamis Oriental on Saturday.

The AGMA was also held in Balingasag, Sugbongcogon and in Claveria, Misamis Oriental.

Canada explained that the increases of crude oil and the raw materials (coal) in the world market were also the reason of the increases of generation charges.

“Atong mga power plant sa Mindanao gagamit sa krudo ug coal ug kung magmahal presyo kini mosaka gyud pud ang  generation charges nga i pass on ngadto sa mga consumedor,”  Cañada said.

Adding: “Lisud man pud nga dili ta mag pa increase nga gikinahanglan naman gayod tungod anang TRAIN Law ug pagmahal sa krudo ug coal nga gagamiton sa mga power plant.”

Meanwhile, Misamis Oriental governor Yevgeny Vincente   Emano in his message called to support the program of MORESCO II.

“Pero wala ko mag ingon nga pabor ako sa MORESCO II gusto lang nako nga kitang tanan makiglambigit magpakabana,”  Emano said.

Kinoguitan and Talisayan mayors Danilo Lagbas and Rommel  Maslog also called the consumers to support the program of the electric cooperative.

Meanwhile, Department of Energy Under Secretary Benito Ranque in his message during the cooperative annual activity apologized in implementation of the TRAIN Law.

“Akong pangpangayo kaninyo ug pasensiya tungod sa pag implementar sa TRAIN law nga maoy hinungdan misaka tanan palaliton apil pagsaka sa balayrunon sa kuryente,”  Ranque said.

“Apan gikinahanlan gayod ang maong TRAIN Law arun mapatuman sa presidente  ang pag construct pa sa mga dalan ug mga tulay sa atong nasud,” he added.
