AN Iligan police investigator yesterday said he could not rule out the possibility that the body found floating on the waters of Mandulog River could be that of the missing wife of former mayor Franklin Quijano.

In a phone interview, Chief M/Sgt. Arthur Arizo said the family of Quijano’s wife has requested the exhumation of the body found in Mandulog River for a DNA examination.

City hall spokesman Jose Pantoja said the dead woman was found wearing a life jacket. The body was already in an advanced state of composition when it was fished out of the river June 29.

He said the dead woman was given a decent burial weeks ago.

The body was found June 29 while Salma Theresa Gerona-Quijano was reported missing on June 27.

Quijano, now the administrator of the Philippine Veterans Investments Development Corp. based in Misamis Oriental, has been seeking help to find his wife since the day she went missing.

“I and the whole family clan, circle of friends, and communities have been worried since she went missing,” Quijano said.
