Cpl. Jackie Lou Malagamba, chief of the Tagoloan police’s women and children’s protection desk, said investigators have a “person of interest” in mind.

The body of two-year-old Renz Gubat was found in a green container near the toilet of a boarding house owned by Levy Gonzaga. The boy (not a girl as reported last week) was the sixth and youngest child of Michael and Angelita Gubat.

The boy’s father went to the police’s crime laboratory in Patag and asked for an autopsy.

“Gusto nako masayran kon  patay bang da-an ang akong anak ayha gisulod sa plastic container or gilumsan ba sulod sa plastic container nga iyang gisudlan,” the 50-year-old Gubat said.

Malagamba said the boy’s body was submerged and curled inside the container.

Gubat said it was clear to him that his son was murdered.

“Akong pangita-on ang hustisya sa pagkamatay sa akong anak. Kinsa man ang nagpasipala niya, surrender na,” he said.

On Wednesday night, Gubat said he and his wife became worried and looked for their child who was last seen alive and playing outside their house in Baybay, San  Vicente.

The boy, he said, was found some 30 minutes after they started the search.
