GIVING easy access and free education to everyone is the focus of Project Beyond in Cagayan de Oro through e-Education.

Mayor Oscar Moreno together with the Department of Education-Division of Cagayan de Oro and executives of NTT Communications, one of Japan’s biggest communication company, recently signed a memorandum of agreement after eight years of preparation for the implementation of Project Beyond in selected barangays this city.

Moreno said the out of school youths especially in sub-urban and hinterland barangays will benefit the project through open high school program under DepEd’s curriculum.

“Technology will reach more students through open high school and evidence shows the higher the education level of a person, the better job opportunity await,” Moreno said.

Schools Division Supt Jonathan dela Pena said the project helps in making education more inclusive and in globalizing the education system.

Project Beyond  is piloted in Cagayan de Oro.

Meanwhile, Regional Director Arturo Bayocot of DepEd-10, said Cagayan de Oro has been ahead in education reforms since the start of Mayor Moreno by improving the education system and responding to classroom shortage thus giving easy implementation of K-12 curriculum. (Abigail C. Malalis for CIO)
