Uy said she has been receiving information about broadcasters who have been making rape victims relive their ordeal by making them give detailed accounts of the abuses while being interviewed on live radio.

“This is punishable by law and if somebody writes us a complaint, then we will immediately act on it especially if the victims are minors. We can file charges,” she said.

Uy called on the KBP and radio stations to stop the practice of making rape victims narrate how they were raped, pointing out that it is being insensitive on the part of the intervewer and traumatizing for the victims.

“Let us respect the rights of the victims, especially on rape cases, and respect the right to privacy of victims,” Uy said.

She said rape victims’ names or any information that could lead to their identification should be withheld.
