THE Cagayan de Oro City Council committee on ways and means chaired by Councilor George Goking will be holding a public hearing on the proposed ordinance on the “Collection of corresponding fees for any business-related transaction” today, November 29, at 2:00 p.m. at the City Tourism Hall.

The proposed law is in line to streamline the process of business registration in the city to provide a more efficient and effective revenue collection and to promote a friendlier atmosphere for taxpayers and investors.

The enactment of the said law is under RA 11031, otherwise known as An act Promoting Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Delivery of Government Services, which provides that barangay clearances and permits related to doing business shall be applied, issued and collected at the city by the prescribed processing time.

According to this, barangays shall authorize the city government to issue barangay clearance and collect corresponding clearance fees for a business permit and construction permit, and the Bureau of Fire Protection for the collection of the fire safety inspection fees.

Councilor Goking is inviting presidents of the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc., Misamis Oriental Filipino Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MOFCCI), Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association; Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Industries; Food Processors Association of Northern Mindanao; Metal Industry Association of the Philippines-Northern Mindanao; PhilExport 10 and Cagayan de Oro Bankers Club, Inc., among others to attend the public hearing.
