REP. Rufus Rodriguez of the city’s 2nd District yesterday said he remained unfazed over popularity surveys on local radio that show reelectionist Mayor Oscar Moreno emerging as the most favored bet for the city’s top post next year.

Rodriguez, who has challenged the reelection bid of Moreno, said he still believed that most Cagayanon voters would choose him over Moreno and other mayoral candidates in next year’s elections.

He said it was clear to him even from the response of the city’s vendors that they want him to be the city’s mayor next year.

Rodriguez also laughed off claims that the Centrist Democratic Party (CDP) has lost momentum and supporters, asserting that his group has remained intact.

“No, that’s not true. My team is intact, and very strong,” he said.

Rodriguez said members of his group were even holding daily meetings.

“Bibo kaayo mi. Our candidates are always together. Stories that we are falling apart is black propaganda,” he said.

Rodriguez also said he and other CDP leaders here were busy preparing for the party’s national convention here on Nov. 27. He said they were expecting thousands to attend the convention.
